No, the Air Pump isn’t required. However, we recommend it for the fastest and best compression results. The Air Pump Pro is compact, portable and rechargeable, so you can compress your Airback in seconds, wherever your trip takes you.

"Haven't used it yet but it does look good. However I think it's slightly over priced and/or should include the vacuum pump, not have as a separate purchase. The technology is not new. These luggage bags with a pump can be bought online eg. amazon and used to 'compress' one's packed clothes. I have a few expensive brands with the backpack converting to wheels but sadly none are underseat - that's the only reason I bought this, I did think the vacuum pump was included for the price"
